We learn by doing. By reflecting on and applying that experience. Sewa Beats accompanies programme participants through a collective musical and rhythmic experience that engages mind, body and emotions. A memorable experience that offers powerful metaphors for leadership, communication and teamwork in today’s organizations.
By working in rhythm with ourselves, we learn to work better in rhythm with each other.
Sewa Beats invites participants to step outside the familiar territory of thinking, analysing, strategizing. Music and rhythm are about feeling rather than thinking, encouraging people to connect with themselves and those around them in different ways. And have fun.
Participants learn to listen actively, feel the rhythm, communicate with all their senses, adapt to what’s happening around them, and be present in the moment. Working with African drums, other percussion instruments, voice, breath or body. And progressing from self-awareness, through awareness of others to collective synergy.
We take the time to reflect on these experiences. To draw parallels with the real dynamics and challenges of the workplace. And so unlock potential.
Each of our programmes is tailor-made. Whether your focus is on leadership development, team-building or organizational change. Whether for 5 people or 5000.
Experimenting with African djembe drums and other percussion instruments, participants experience the power of expression, communication and leadership through rhythm. Steeped in the musical traditions and culture of West Africa, the djembe creates a dynamic energy. It enthuses everyone, providing an ideal focus for active learning.
Our voices are tools of communication. They also reflect our inner selves, express identity, authenticity. Sewa Beats programmes give participants space to find their own voice. And, through the joy of singing, listening and creating simple harmonies together, to connect and communicate in new ways.
Our breath brings us our life, oxygenating and energizing our bodies. We often pay it scant attention, stifle it, disconnect from it. Sewa Beats uses conscious breathing to focus attention back on the rhythm of this vital resource. A simple and powerful way to reconnect with ourselves.
In these times of economic constraints, we can continue to make music with fewer resources. We have added an innovative approach to our toolbox: body percussion. Providing our trademark rhythmic experience and powerful learning without the need for other instruments.
