Sewa charity work – corporate social responsibility

The Sewa Association is an NGO affiliated to Sewa Beats. It was created in January 2004 with two main objectives:

  • To bring the joy of drumming to disadvantaged communities across Europe.
  • To raise funds for specific charitable projects around the world.

One of Sewa Beats’ core values is corporate social responsibility. Before the Sewa Association was set up, Sewa Beats was already involved in various activities engaging sectors of the community in African drumming and dance. We have run workshops with deaf children, teaching them to feel the beat through their bodies, with prisoners for rehabilitation purposes, and with refugees.

For its first charity event the Sewa Association brought together 350 participants for a gigantic African percussion workshop and raised 10’000 Swiss francs (€6000) at the Geneva Palladium for Terre des Hommes, Switzerland.

For events, the Sewa Beats’ team members travel from as  far away as Burkina Faso, the United Kingdom, Spain and Switzerland.  Under their expert direction, participants – even rank beginners quickly get the beat, making these events ideal fund raisers.

Our recent events have been a huge success and the high demand from the public to participate has resulted in almost all the sponsors and collaborators agreeing to organize and support similar events in Switzerland and Spain.

We will keep you posted on new events that are being planned. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact the Sewa Association for further information on what we do and how you can help at info@sewabeats.com.
