Sewa Beats is proud to have master drummer and teacher Mamady Keita as its patron. Guardian of the Malinké tradition, he utilises its music and rhythm to encourage qualities such as patience, tolerance, understanding and harmony in both individuals and organisations. Sewa Beats works to uphold and inspire these same values.

Mamady Keita is considered the leading representative of the music and tradition of the djembe, and its foremost performer. Through sheer musical talent and personal conviction, he has managed over the course of his long career to spread the power and impact of African music throughout the world. In 1991 he started the Tam Tam Mandingue percussion school in Brussels which today has branches in North America, Europe and Japan, attended by people from all walks of life. Through his consummate artistry and knowledge, he conveys the importance of music and rhythm as a medium for promoting universally accepted values.

Mamady Keita has released fourteen albums and made a variety of instructional DVDs, in five languages. National Geographic, and others, have made documentary films about the great djembe master's life, music and work. His book, A Life for the Djembe, is regarded as today's leading reference on the djembe drum and traditional African rhythms.

Organisations wanting to make universal values a priority at their conference have the option of inviting Mamady Keita as keynote or inspirational speaker. Drawing from his experience, knowledge and understanding of ancient West African drumming traditions, he will provide the audience with memorable anecdotes and help organisations focus on the humanistic approach to life and work.
